ToneRelay FAQ

Straight answers to common ToneRelay setup and use questions.

What if ToneRelay cannot find my HomePod?

Check that the PC and HomePod/HomePod mini are on the same local network. Turn off VPN, guest Wi-Fi, or client isolation for a test. Then restart ToneRelay and the HomePod/HomePod mini.

Why does Windows ask for permission during setup?

ToneRelay needs permission to allow local network playback. If you deny it, the app may install but fail to find or play to the speaker until Windows allows the connection.

How do I uninstall ToneRelay?

Use Windows installed apps or Apps & features to uninstall ToneRelay. If a ToneRelay firewall entry remains, remove it from Windows Firewall settings.

Does ToneRelay support multiple HomePods?

No. ToneRelay is for one HomePod or one HomePod mini at a time.

Which speakers and protocols are not supported?

ToneRelay is focused on one HomePod or one HomePod mini. It does not claim support for Apple TV, older AirPlay devices, Sonos, Chromecast, DLNA, multi-room playback, or stereo-pair sync.

Is ToneRelay made by Apple?

No. ToneRelay is an independent app. HomePod and HomePod mini are mentioned only so users know what the app works with.

Is it good for gaming or live monitoring?

ToneRelay is meant for everyday listening. It is not designed for zero-latency gaming, music performance monitoring, or production monitoring.

Can I buy Pro from this page?
