ToneRelay Release Notes

The October 12, 2026 installer refresh keeps version 0.1.0 and adds firewall authorization and repair from Diagnostics. Download the latest installer even if your installed version already reads 0.1.0.

October 12, 2026 — firewall authorization and repair

  • After Run connection check confirms a missing or incorrectly configured firewall rule, Authorize / repair firewall appears in the status column on the right of the firewall row, replacing Needs checking. It stays hidden when the rule is correct, its state is unconfirmed, or network policy blocks inbound traffic.
  • Click the button and approve the Windows administrator prompt to add or restore the rule for this installation’s audio service. Cancellation can be retried. The app rechecks the rule afterward and shows Passed only after successful verification; repair does not automatically connect or start playback.
  • The diagnostics health dialog now uses an opaque light background without glass effects or background blur, with corrected English and Chinese guidance.
  • Login startup, automatic connection and the Stable audio profile are retained. Quality summary and recent events remain hidden.

October 11, 2026 — stable audio and connection diagnostics

  • Fixed the selected audio buffer profile not reaching the audio service. The Stable profile now keeps more buffer reserve to reduce interruptions from brief capture jitter; it also increases playback delay.
  • Stable remains the default, and existing choices are preserved. Reconnect after changing a buffer profile. This does not guarantee that every network or device issue is resolved.
  • Fixed an incorrect not-activated message on the connection page after an activated user stops playback. Permanent license validation and storage are unchanged.
  • Run connection check now opens a dialog with progress, results or the failed stage, covering discovery, default audio output, local firewall rules, TCP reachability and the actual connection stage. Unchecked stages are not marked as passed; the check does not automatically connect or change system settings.
  • Temporarily hid the quality summary and recent events. Copy summary and redacted export remain available, along with login startup and automatic connection.

October 10, 2026 — startup and automatic connection

  • Launch ToneRelay when you sign in to Windows and automatically connect to the last successfully connected, automatically discovered HomePod.
  • Fresh installs enable login startup and automatic connection, with minimized startup off. Each setting can be changed independently.
  • Installing over an existing copy preserves your preferences. Automatic connection and minimized startup settings apply each time the app starts.
  • A speaker is remembered after a successful connection. Devices added by manual IP are not restored across app restarts.
  • Fixed a desktop service error that could occur on startup or after quitting and reopening the app.

  • Play Windows default audio through HomePod or HomePod mini.
  • Use a local network connection.
  • Start a local 7-day trial after the first successful playback.
  • Guide users through setup and common troubleshooting.

Updating

To update ToneRelay, download the newest installer from Download ToneRelay for Windows and install it over your current copy.
