Install ToneRelay and Allow Windows Local Network Playback

ToneRelay needs Windows permission to communicate with your HomePod or HomePod mini on the local network.

Install steps

  1. Download ToneRelay from /download/.
  2. Run the installer.
  3. Allow the Windows permission prompt for ToneRelay.
  4. Open ToneRelay.
  5. Choose your HomePod or HomePod mini.
  6. Play audio on Windows.

Why Windows asks

Windows protects local network connections. ToneRelay asks so the PC can find and play to the speaker on your network.

If you denied the prompt

Open Windows Firewall settings and allow ToneRelay, or run the installer again and allow the prompt. Without this permission, the speaker may not appear.

Uninstall

Uninstall ToneRelay from Windows installed apps. If a ToneRelay entry remains in Windows Firewall, you can remove it manually.
