Windows Firewall Blocks HomePod Playback
Windows may block apps from talking to devices on your local network. ToneRelay needs that local access to play to HomePod.
What to check
- Open Windows Firewall settings.
- Look for ToneRelay.
- Allow ToneRelay on your current local network.
- Restart ToneRelay.
If you denied permission
Run the installer again or allow ToneRelay manually in Windows Firewall settings.
Firewall decision table
| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| Windows asks for permission during install | Allow ToneRelay if you intend to use local HomePod playback. |
| Permission was denied | Open Windows Firewall settings or re-run the installer. |
| Playback fails after network change | Check whether the current network profile allows ToneRelay. |
| Uninstall leaves an entry | Remove the ToneRelay entry manually if it remains. |
