Which devices does ToneRelay support?

ToneRelay 0.1.0 supports all HomePod models: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini, with existing HomePod software 27 compatibility. Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon; other brands remain Planned until playback verification confirms them. Apple TV, WiiM and stereo-pair requests are still collected.

Find a Windows audio route for your exact model

The model-level compatibility directory separates real-device verification from planned evaluations. Sonos, SYMFONISK and AirPort Express guides explain existing audio routes without claiming ToneRelay support.

Already using HomePod software 27?

ToneRelay has been tested with HomePod software 27; this does not validate every network. Follow the setup guide to check discovery and audible output. If a firewall rule is missing, diagnostics offers an explicitly authorized repair.

Why does the exact model matter?

Audio receiver capabilities can differ within a brand. Manufacturer AirPlay support does not establish ToneRelay compatibility. Include the model; for a HomePod stereo pair, include both speaker models and software versions.

How are future devices evaluated?

We first collect specific use cases, then confirm access to real hardware and assess development and maintenance cost. A device class proceeds to technical validation only after these checks. A request is not a roadmap commitment, support promise or release date.

Frequently asked questions

Which HomePod models does ToneRelay support?

ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini. Play Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio on a configured HomePod over the same reachable local network. ToneRelay has been tested with HomePod software 27.

Can WiiM Ultra be evaluated as an AirPlay receiver?

WiiM states that Ultra does not support AirPlay, unlike Mini, Pro, Pro Plus and Amp. Requests and hardware validation therefore need the exact model. Manufacturer AirPlay support still does not establish ToneRelay compatibility.

What model details are needed for a HomePod stereo request?

Apple requires two HomePod speakers of the same model for a stereo pair. Include both models and software versions and whether they are already paired in the Home app. This is request information; ToneRelay does not currently support the pair.

Does ToneRelay support Apple TV?

Apple TV is not supported in the current release. Share your model, tvOS version and Windows audio use case through the device request form. Requests are used for evaluation, with no support promise.

Does ToneRelay support Sonos or WiiM?

All listed Sonos models are Planned and have no verified ToneRelay playback; current compatibility is not guaranteed. WiiM remains at the request stage and is outside current support. Share the exact model; official AirPlay capability does not establish ToneRelay compatibility.

Does ToneRelay support a HomePod stereo pair?

HomePod stereo pairs are not supported in the current release. Existing HomePod or HomePod mini playback and stereo-pair playback are separate requirements. Share the pair models and use case in the request form.

Does a device request guarantee support?

No. User demand, access to real hardware and development cost must be checked before technical validation. No additional device support or release date is promised.
