All HomePod models: Supported · More AirPlay speakers: Coming soon
AirPlay speakers on Windows: compatibility and roadmap
ToneRelay supports HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini today. Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. This directory lists Windows connection options and exact model status; Sonos, SYMFONISK and AirPort Express remain Planned until playback verification is complete.
Quick answer
Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. ToneRelay supports all HomePod models: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini, for Windows default-output audio. Sonos, SYMFONISK and the listed AirPort Express model remain Planned. Official AirPlay 2, Bluetooth or line-in capability describes the receiver; it does not establish ToneRelay support.
Get ready for upcoming AirPlay speaker support
We are preparing an upcoming ToneRelay release for additional AirPlay speakers. Exact model support will be announced after real-device verification.
- Find your exact model in the compatibility table. Coming soon does not mean every listed model or configuration has been verified.
- When support is released, check the required ToneRelay version, speaker firmware and supported setup for your model.
- Use the shared ToneRelay download once your model is verified. A Pro purchase does not unlock an unverified device in the current release.
- Check actual audible playback, reconnection and acceptable delay on your own PC and network before relying on the setup.
What the ToneRelay support statuses mean
The following notice applies to models marked Planned; all HomePod models are supported now.
ToneRelay support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. This device has not yet been verified. Current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Coming soon describes the upcoming AirPlay speaker release. Planned remains the status for each model without completed playback verification. The announcement does not certify every listed device or configuration. Buying ToneRelay does not enable support for a Planned device.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Verified | ToneRelay has passed real-device playback testing for this model in the recorded scope. This is not a guarantee for every network, firmware or speaker configuration. |
| Supported | The product owner has confirmed support in the current release. This does not add undocumented firmware-specific measurements or stereo-pair and multi-room support. |
| Testing | Actual compatibility testing is in progress. Playback has not yet been verified; no listed device currently has this status. |
| Planned | Evaluation or adaptation is planned, with no completed real-device verification. Current compatibility is not guaranteed. |
| Not Supported | Testing or a known implementation limitation has established that the current release does not support the device. No listed model is assigned this status. |
Choose an audio route before choosing software
Windows has no built-in general AirPlay system-audio output picker. An app with its own AirPlay option sends only the content it supports; Apple documents this for iTunes and HomePod. A Sonos controller plays supported services and shared music, rather than forwarding every PC sound. For live system audio, check a sender’s exact receiver support or use a model-specific Bluetooth, line-in or TV audio route.
Connection limits vary across speaker families
- HomePod uses local-network audio rather than ordinary Bluetooth speaker input or AUX. ToneRelay supports HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini.
- Sonos One and IKEA SYMFONISK lack ordinary Bluetooth audio and AUX inputs. They share the highest evaluation priority.
- Sonos home-theater devices have model-specific TV audio inputs. Check your PC, TV and the exact soundbar connectors; a TV route does not establish AirPlay sender support.
- AirPort Express needs compatible firmware and a connected audio system. Only the 802.11n second-generation model is in this roadmap.
- Other Sonos candidates have different Bluetooth, line-in or network options. Do not infer a family-wide connection method.
AirPlay 2 capability is not a ToneRelay test result
An AirPlay-capable receiver still needs a compatible sender, firmware and reachable network. Sonos speakers configured as home-theater surrounds cannot be selected directly for AirPlay. Sender support for buffering, pairing and grouping varies. ToneRelay’s current release has no stereo-pair or multi-room playback, and no zero-latency promise. Check each model status below before downloading for that speaker.

Firmware and future verification updates
Apple’s firmware 7.8 update added AirPlay 2 to 802.11n AirPort Express base stations; confirm AirPlay 2-capable firmware is actually installed. It does not establish ToneRelay support. Future Verified entries will need a record of real-device playback, the ToneRelay release and the tested configuration. Discovery alone is insufficient. Updates belong here and on the relevant family page, using the same device list.

Windows audio guides by speaker family
Sonos Five, Play:5, Amp and Port: Windows line-in routes
Five and Play:5 Gen 2 have line-in for a PC analog source; Amp and Port offer line-in in systems with connected speakers or audio equipment. Check the correct input, cable and Sonos source selection. An existing analog route can meet a PC audio need without waiting for ToneRelay, while its delay and playback behavior should still be evaluated.
Sonos Era 100, Era 100 SL and Era 300 on Windows
The Era models listed here offer Bluetooth audio and line-in using the required Sonos adapter. Do not treat USB-C as proof of a generic Windows USB audio device. Bluetooth, analog line-in and AirPlay are separate routes. All three models remain Planned for ToneRelay.
Sonos Move, Move 2, Roam, Roam SL, Roam 2 and Play PC audio
Portable Sonos models have model-specific Bluetooth setup requirements. Move 2 and Sonos Play also have adapter-based line-in; do not apply those connectors to the original Move or to Roam. The original Roam requires Sonos Wi-Fi setup before Bluetooth pairing. Use the exact model’s instructions rather than assuming that every portable Sonos product has the same PC workflow.
Share your device model and Windows audio use case
If your planned speaker is the device you need, share its exact model, firmware, Windows version and listening task through the existing device request form. This helps assess hardware access and demand. A request is not a confirmed test, development commitment or release date.
ToneRelay today and what to do next
ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini, for Windows audio on one speaker. Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon under the same ToneRelay brand and download. Additional supported models and the required release will be published after verification. Buying Pro does not enable a planned device or guarantee future compatibility.

Frequently asked questions
Which HomePod models does ToneRelay support now?
ToneRelay supports HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini in the current release, as confirmed by the product owner. HomePod mini retains its existing playback verification record including HomePod software 27. All model support is for single-speaker Windows playback; stereo pairs and multi-room are not supported.
Are Sonos and SYMFONISK compatible with ToneRelay?
Support is coming soon. The listed Sonos and SYMFONISK models remain Planned until real-device playback verification confirms them. Current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Does Planned mean a device is currently being tested?
No. Planned means intended evaluation or adaptation. Testing is used only when actual compatibility testing is in progress. No listed model is currently marked Testing.
Will AirPlay 2 firmware make AirPort Express work with ToneRelay?
AirPlay 2-capable firmware is a prerequisite for the planned evaluation, not proof of ToneRelay playback. AirPort Express 802.11n (2nd generation) remains Planned.
Will there be a separate ToneRelay for Sonos download?
No separate product is planned. The long-term direction is Windows Audio to AirPlay Speakers under the ToneRelay brand, website and shared download entry. That direction is not a promise of support for any Planned model.
When will ToneRelay support more AirPlay speakers?
Support is coming soon in an upcoming ToneRelay release. The exact supported models and required release will be announced after real-device verification. Coming soon is a release announcement, not a claim that every listed device already works.
Which HomePod mini configuration is Verified with ToneRelay?
HomePod mini is supported for Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio on a reachable local network, with an existing playback record including HomePod software 27. ToneRelay also supports HomePod (1st generation) and HomePod (2nd generation), as confirmed by the product owner. Single-speaker support does not include stereo pairs or multi-room playback. Use the HomePod mini setup guide for connection instructions.
Does ToneRelay support HomePod (1st generation)?
Yes. ToneRelay supports HomePod (1st generation), the original HomePod, for Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio over a reachable local network. The product owner confirmed full HomePod model support on October 13, 2026. Use one configured speaker and follow the established HomePod setup guide. Stereo pairs and multi-room playback are not supported.
Does ToneRelay support HomePod (2nd generation)?
Yes. ToneRelay supports HomePod (2nd generation) for Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio over a reachable local network. The product owner confirmed full HomePod model support on October 13, 2026. Follow the established HomePod setup guide for one configured speaker. Stereo pairs and multi-room playback are not supported.
Can I connect Sonos Five to Windows with AUX?
Sonos Five has a 3.5 mm line-in route for an external audio source. A PC analog output and suitable cable can feed it after Sonos setup; check line-in source selection and buffering. Five’s line-in playback is separate from Windows AirPlay sending and does not require ToneRelay support. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Five: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How can Sonos Play:5 (Gen 2) play Windows PC audio?
Play:5 Gen 2 has a line-in route for a PC analog source, as well as supported Sonos network music playback. This roadmap covers Gen 2; the name Play:5 alone is not enough to identify the receiver. Check the actual hardware and input before comparing results from Five or another Play:5 generation. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Play:5 (Gen 2): Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I connect Sonos Era 100 to Windows using Bluetooth or line-in?
Era 100 offers Bluetooth audio and USB-C line-in through a Sonos Line-In Adapter. A Bluetooth-capable PC or an analog PC output with the proper adapter can be considered before choosing a Windows AirPlay sender. The USB-C connector alone does not establish generic USB sound-card operation. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Era 100: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Does Sonos Era 100 SL work with Windows PC audio?
Era 100 SL offers Bluetooth audio and line-in with the Sonos adapter. Identify it separately from Sonos One SL, which does not have those ordinary PC audio input routes. Similar names do not establish the same connectors or ToneRelay compatibility. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Era 100 SL: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How do I play Windows audio on Sonos Era 300?
Era 300 provides Bluetooth audio and USB-C line-in with the required Sonos adapter. These are model-specific alternatives to AirPlay network sending. Check the PC source, room configuration and delay; Bluetooth or line-in playback is not a ToneRelay verification result. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Era 300: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I use Sonos Move as a Windows Bluetooth speaker?
The original Sonos Move has a Bluetooth audio route for a Bluetooth-capable PC. Do not assume it has Move 2’s USB-C line-in feature. Bluetooth listening and Sonos Wi-Fi playback use different modes, and success on either does not verify a ToneRelay AirPlay connection. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Move: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can Sonos Move 2 play Windows audio through Bluetooth or a cable?
Move 2 offers Bluetooth audio and USB-C line-in using the Sonos Line-In Adapter. Sonos setup is required before line-in use. Choose the appropriate Windows output and input route; the adapter is for analog input, not proof of a generic USB audio connection. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Move 2: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How do I connect Sonos Roam to a Windows PC?
For the original Roam, Sonos documents completing Wi-Fi setup before pairing a Bluetooth source. A Bluetooth-capable Windows PC can then be considered as the source. Keep Bluetooth listening separate from AirPlay network audio and from ToneRelay’s model-specific test status. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Roam: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can Sonos Roam SL play Windows Bluetooth audio?
Roam SL offers Bluetooth audio; check its own setup instructions and current configuration before pairing the PC. It is a distinct entry from Roam 2 and Sonos One SL. Its USB-C connector is for charging, not a PC line-in path. A portable speaker’s Bluetooth result cannot establish ToneRelay network compatibility. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Roam SL: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I connect Sonos Roam 2 to Windows over Bluetooth?
Roam 2 offers Bluetooth audio for a Bluetooth-capable PC. Follow its own pairing instructions instead of copying the original Roam’s setup requirements. For Wi-Fi or AirPlay audio, identify the room and sender separately; those routes have their own network and compatibility requirements. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Roam 2: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How can Sonos Amp play Windows PC audio?
Sonos Amp has an analog line-in route and powers connected passive speakers. Consider the PC’s analog output, suitable input cable and Sonos source selection. A TV HDMI ARC route is a separate option. Amp is not a standalone speaker, and an existing wired audio route does not verify ToneRelay. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Amp: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I connect Sonos Port to Windows for PC audio?
Sonos Port can bring an analog source into the Sonos system through line-in, and needs an external sound system for its output. Distinguish its input and output sockets when connecting a PC. It is not a powered speaker or a generic Windows USB sound card. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Port: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How can I play Windows audio on Sonos Play?
Sonos Play offers Bluetooth audio and a line-in route using the required Sonos adapter. It is a different product from Play:5, Play:1 and Playbase. Use its exact product name and connector requirements when choosing a Windows audio route; its official AirPlay capability is not ToneRelay verification. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos Play: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
