Supported setups at a glance
| Requirement | Supported use | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Computer | Windows 10 or Windows 11, x64 | Check your Windows system type before downloading. |
| Speaker | HomePod (1st generation) / HomePod (2nd generation) / HomePod mini | Set up and power the HomePod first; do not configure a stereo pair. |
| Connection | A reachable local network; the PC may use Ethernet | Both devices must communicate. Guest networks and client isolation can block discovery. |
| Audio source | The current Windows default output | Apps routed to another output may not be included. No separate per-app routing. |
| Listening | Music, podcasts, browser and desktop audio | Test interruptions and video delay; there is no zero-latency guarantee. |
Validate before buying
- Confirm Windows 10/11 x64 and a configured HomePod or HomePod mini.
- Install the current unsigned installer; review the installation instructions if Windows shows a warning.
- Select the speaker in ToneRelay and play a known local audio clip using the Windows default output.
- Check audible output, reconnection and delay with your usual apps. Playing alone does not prove the speaker is audible.
When to choose a different setup
Choose another workflow if you need Mac or Linux software, Windows ARM, Bluetooth speaker pairing, stereo pairs, multiple rooms, phone audio, microphone forwarding or a separate output for each app. ToneRelay does not add those features.
From a compatible setup to listening
The local seven-day trial begins at the first successful Playing state and does not require an account. Pro is USD $14.99 once for a permanent license, plus applicable taxes. Try your own equipment before deciding.
Would you like support for another device?
Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. We still collect Sonos, Apple TV, WiiM and HomePod stereo-pair requests. Share the model, use case and hardware availability; model and configuration support depends on verification, not the request itself.
HomePod model verification and other AirPlay speakers
ToneRelay supports all HomePod models: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini. Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio plays on one speaker over a reachable local network. Stereo pairs and multi-room are outside the current scope. Sonos and IKEA SYMFONISK remain Planned; a Pro purchase does not enable these devices.
Frequently asked questions
Which HomePod models does ToneRelay support?
ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini. Play Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio on a configured HomePod over the same reachable local network. ToneRelay has been tested with HomePod software 27.
Does this check guarantee ToneRelay will work on my PC?
No. It checks documented requirements, not your hardware or network. Use the local trial to verify discovery, audible playback, reconnection and delay.
Can the PC use Ethernet while HomePod uses Wi-Fi?
Yes, if both can communicate on the same local network. Guest isolation or separate network segments can prevent discovery.
Can I use two HomePods as a stereo pair?
The current ToneRelay release supports HomePod or HomePod mini, not stereo pairs or multi-room playback.
