Quick answer

Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. To play Windows audio on Sonos, choose the route for your source: Sonos controls for supported music, a shared library for stored songs, model-specific Bluetooth or line-in where available, or a compatible network sender for live system audio. ToneRelay has not verified Sonos playback; all listed Sonos models are Planned.

Get ready for upcoming AirPlay speaker support

We are preparing an upcoming ToneRelay release for additional AirPlay speakers. Exact model support will be announced after real-device verification.

  1. Find your exact model in the compatibility table. Coming soon does not mean every listed model or configuration has been verified.
  2. When support is released, check the required ToneRelay version, speaker firmware and supported setup for your model.
  3. Use the shared ToneRelay download once your model is verified. A Pro purchase does not unlock an unverified device in the current release.
  4. Check actual audible playback, reconnection and acceptable delay on your own PC and network before relying on the setup.

Why connecting Sonos to a PC is not always plug and play

Sonos One and One SL have no ordinary Bluetooth audio input or AUX socket. SYMFONISK also uses network audio. Other Sonos models may offer Bluetooth, line-in or TV inputs, so check the model instead of assuming all Sonos speakers connect in the same way. Wi-Fi and Ethernet provide a network connection; they do not by themselves make a speaker a Windows sound output.

Sonos on Windows 11 and Windows 10

Windows does not include a general AirPlay system-output picker for Sonos. The Sonos desktop app can control playback on an existing Sonos system, including music services and a music library. It does not turn all sound from a Windows browser, game or meeting into a Sonos stream. Use the mobile Sonos app for initial system setup, then check the current desktop app requirements for your PC.

Choose a connection route for the audio you need

What you want to playAvailable routeImportant limit
Music from a serviceUse the Sonos app or a service with its own Sonos playback integration.Controls supported music content; does not forward every Windows sound.
Music files stored on your PCShare a music folder and add it to the Sonos music library.Plays indexed files, not live browser, game or notification audio. Follow Sonos sharing instructions.
Live PC system audioUse a model-specific Bluetooth, line-in or TV-input path where available, or evaluate a Windows AirPlay sender.Confirm the exact receiver, current firmware, sender support and delay before purchase. Sonos One has no Bluetooth audio or AUX path.
Audio from an Apple deviceUse AirPlay on a supported iPhone, iPad or Mac with an AirPlay-enabled Sonos room. This is an Apple-device route, not proof of Windows or ToneRelay support.

What AirPlay 2 adds, and what it does not

AirPlay 2 provides network audio for supported receivers. It does not install an AirPlay sender into Windows or make every sender compatible. Sonos rooms must be reachable and configured; speakers assigned as home-theater surrounds cannot be selected directly for AirPlay. Buffering and network conditions can affect delay, so do not assume suitability for interactive games or live monitoring. ToneRelay does not currently provide stereo-pair or multi-room playback.

ToneRelay support is coming soon

ToneRelay support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. This device has not yet been verified. Current compatibility is not guaranteed.

We are preparing an upcoming ToneRelay release for additional AirPlay speakers. Exact model support will be announced after real-device verification.

All HomePod models are already supported in the current release. Official AirPlay capability alone does not establish ToneRelay compatibility for additional devices. Planned is the model-level verification state until real-device playback is confirmed.

More Sonos families: upcoming support and model checks

Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. Sonos One and IKEA SYMFONISK are the first evaluation focus; Beam, Arc, Ray and Playbase have different TV audio routes, while Five, Play:5 (Gen 2), Era, Move, Roam, Amp, Port and Sonos Play have model-specific inputs. Each listed model remains Planned until ToneRelay playback verification confirms it.

Spotify, YouTube, browser audio and games on Sonos

Spotify or another supported service may have its own Sonos playback integration. YouTube in a Windows browser, a game, Discord and desktop notifications are live PC audio sources, not indexed music files. To send these sounds, first check the exact model’s Bluetooth, line-in or TV inputs, then evaluate a system-audio sender if a network route is needed. For calls, speaker playback does not provide a microphone return path. Test video sync and timing instead of assuming every network route is suitable.

Share your device model and Windows audio use case

If your planned speaker is the device you need, share its exact model, firmware, Windows version and listening task through the existing device request form. This helps assess hardware access and demand. A request is not a confirmed test, development commitment or release date.

ToneRelay today and what to do next

ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini, for Windows audio on one speaker. Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon under the same ToneRelay brand and download. Additional supported models and the required release will be published after verification. Buying Pro does not enable a planned device or guarantee future compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Can I stream Windows audio to Sonos with ToneRelay now?

ToneRelay support for Sonos is coming soon. Exact model verification is still pending, so current compatibility is not guaranteed. The current download supports all HomePod models; a purchase does not enable upcoming Sonos support.

Does the Sonos Windows app play all PC audio on Sonos?

No. It controls supported music playback and the music library on your Sonos system. Live audio from arbitrary Windows apps needs a separate audio route.

Can I connect Sonos to a PC using Bluetooth or a cable?

It depends on the model. Sonos One and One SL do not have ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX inputs. Other models may offer Bluetooth, line-in or a TV-input route; check the connectors and required adapters for your device.

Does official AirPlay support mean ToneRelay works with Sonos?

No. Receiver support and ToneRelay real-device verification are separate. Only a completed ToneRelay test can establish Verified status for a particular model.

Are Sonos Beam, Arc and Ray supported by ToneRelay?

No verified ToneRelay support is recorded for these soundbars. They are Planned second-priority evaluations. Model-specific TV audio connections may be an alternative for PC audio.

When will ToneRelay support more AirPlay speakers?

Support is coming soon in an upcoming ToneRelay release. The exact supported models and required release will be announced after real-device verification. Coming soon is a release announcement, not a claim that every listed device already works.
