Can HomePod connect to a Windows PC by Bluetooth?
Windows Bluetooth pairing is not the connection path for ToneRelay. ToneRelay sends Windows 10/11 default-output audio to HomePod or HomePod mini over the local network, where the PC and speaker must be able to communicate.
All HomePod models supported
ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini.
Play Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio on a configured HomePod over the same reachable local network. ToneRelay has been tested with HomePod software 27.
| HomePod model | ToneRelay support |
|---|---|
| HomePod (1st generation) | Playback supported |
| HomePod (2nd generation) | Playback supported |
| HomePod mini | Playback supported |
Initial setup and PC playback are separate
Apple’s initial HomePod setup asks for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on an iPhone or iPad. Once setup is complete, ToneRelay provides local-network audio playback from Windows. Bluetooth being enabled during phone setup does not make Windows Bluetooth audio pairing a ToneRelay requirement.
Connect over the local network
- Keep the configured HomePod powered and on the same local network as your Windows 10/11 PC.
- Install ToneRelay and approve its local-playback firewall rule.
- Select HomePod or HomePod mini inside ToneRelay.
- Start playback, let the target app use the Windows default output and confirm sound from the speaker.

Frequently asked questions
Which HomePod models does ToneRelay support?
ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini. Play Windows 10/11 x64 default-output audio on a configured HomePod over the same reachable local network. ToneRelay has been tested with HomePod software 27.
Does ToneRelay use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?
ToneRelay sends audio over the local network, without Windows Bluetooth audio pairing. The PC needs local-network access to the HomePod.
What if HomePod is missing from the Windows Bluetooth list?
ToneRelay does not rely on that list. Look for HomePod inside ToneRelay on the same local network; if absent there, check network isolation, VPN and firewall permission.
