Stream Windows Audio to HomePod
This guide covers the normal ToneRelay flow from Windows audio to one HomePod or HomePod mini.
Before you start
- Use Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Use one HomePod or HomePod mini.
- Keep both devices on the same local network.
Basic flow
- Install ToneRelay.
- Allow Windows local network permission.
- Choose the speaker.
- Play audio on Windows.
Latency
ToneRelay is for everyday listening. It is not intended for zero-latency monitoring.
Windows audio path explained
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Windows app or browser plays audio | The sound goes to the normal Windows default output. |
| ToneRelay captures the default output | ToneRelay uses that stream as the source. |
| Local network playback | ToneRelay sends playback to one selected HomePod or HomePod mini. |
| Speaker output | The HomePod/HomePod mini plays the Windows audio. |
