ToneRelay support: Coming soon · Model verification pending
Sonos One and One SL on Windows
ToneRelay support for the Sonos One family is coming soon. Learn the Windows audio routes for Sonos One (Gen 1), Sonos One (Gen 2) and One SL. Each model remains Planned and unverified until its playback tests are completed.
Quick answer
Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon. Sonos One Gen 1, Sonos One Gen 2 and One SL have no ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX input. Sonos music controls and a shared Windows library can play supported content. Live PC audio requires a compatible network sender. All three models are Planned for ToneRelay, not verified.
Get ready for upcoming AirPlay speaker support
We are preparing an upcoming ToneRelay release for additional AirPlay speakers. Exact model support will be announced after real-device verification.
- Find your exact model in the compatibility table. Coming soon does not mean every listed model or configuration has been verified.
- When support is released, check the required ToneRelay version, speaker firmware and supported setup for your model.
- Use the shared ToneRelay download once your model is verified. A Pro purchase does not unlock an unverified device in the current release.
- Check actual audible playback, reconnection and acceptable delay on your own PC and network before relying on the setup.
No Bluetooth audio pairing or AUX input
Neither generation of Sonos One nor One SL offers the ordinary Bluetooth speaker input or 3.5 mm AUX connection used by many PC speakers. The Ethernet connector is for networking, not an analog audio input. A Windows Bluetooth scan or headphone cable therefore is not a route for playing PC audio on these models.
What Sonos One can do with a Windows PC today
For supported music services, use the Sonos app to control playback on an already configured system. For local tracks, share a Windows music folder and add it to the Sonos library. Neither route automatically relays YouTube, game audio or the entire Windows 11 or Windows 10 default output. Windows has no native system-wide AirPlay output selector for Sonos One.
Match the route to your Sonos One listening task
- For a supported music service, start with Sonos playback controls; a system-audio sender may be unnecessary.
- For a collection of local songs, follow Sonos music-library sharing instructions and keep the shared location accessible.
- For browser or other live Windows audio, evaluate a sender that explicitly lists Sonos One or One SL and your firmware. A HomePod result is not enough.
- For low-delay games or calls, use your PC speakers or headphones unless you have verified that a network audio route meets your timing needs.
AirPlay on One, One SL and surround configurations
Sonos lists both One generations and One SL as AirPlay receivers. That gives supported Apple devices a network playback route; it does not establish ToneRelay support from Windows. A One or One SL assigned as a home-theater surround cannot be selected directly for AirPlay. A standalone room, stereo pair and surround assignment are different configurations and need separate testing.

What a future ToneRelay verification must establish
Each model needs real-device discovery, connection and audible playback checks from the Windows default output. Evaluation should record the speaker firmware and configuration, Windows version, ToneRelay release, reconnection behavior and any playback interruptions or delay. The roadmap does not claim those tests have started or establish a release date.

Sonos One on Windows 11: why it is not a normal sound output
A network connection to Sonos One does not register it as an ordinary Windows playback device. The Sonos desktop controller manages music on the Sonos system; it does not capture the PC’s default output. For Windows 10 and Windows 11 browser or desktop audio, look for a sender that explicitly lists One Gen 1, Gen 2 or One SL, then confirm discovery and actual audible playback. ToneRelay verification is still pending for each model.
Sonos One SL versus Era 100 SL for a Windows PC
One SL has no ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX route. Era 100 SL has Bluetooth audio and line-in using the required Sonos adapter. They are different products despite the SL suffix. This difference can change your PC connection choice, but both remain Planned in the ToneRelay roadmap.
Share your device model and Windows audio use case
If your planned speaker is the device you need, share its exact model, firmware, Windows version and listening task through the existing device request form. This helps assess hardware access and demand. A request is not a confirmed test, development commitment or release date.
ToneRelay today and what to do next
ToneRelay supports the full HomePod lineup: HomePod (1st generation), HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini, for Windows audio on one speaker. Support for more AirPlay speakers is coming soon under the same ToneRelay brand and download. Additional supported models and the required release will be published after verification. Buying Pro does not enable a planned device or guarantee future compatibility.

Frequently asked questions
Does ToneRelay support Sonos One Gen 1 or Gen 2?
Both models are Planned. ToneRelay playback has not been verified on either generation, and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I use Sonos One SL as a Windows speaker?
You can control supported Sonos music playback from a PC, but One SL has no ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX input. Live Windows system audio requires a suitable network sender. ToneRelay support is Planned, not verified.
Can I plug my PC headphone output into Sonos One?
No. Sonos One and One SL do not have a 3.5 mm AUX input. Their Ethernet connector is a network connection and does not accept analog audio.
Why does my Sonos One not appear as an AirPlay target?
Check that it is powered on, connected to the Sonos system and reachable on your network. Sonos does not expose speakers assigned as home-theater surrounds as direct AirPlay targets. These checks do not establish ToneRelay compatibility.
Will a ToneRelay Pro license enable Sonos One SL?
A purchase does not enable a Planned device or guarantee future compatibility. Wait for model-specific verified support before treating ToneRelay as a Sonos One SL solution.
When will ToneRelay support more AirPlay speakers?
Support is coming soon in an upcoming ToneRelay release. The exact supported models and required release will be announced after real-device verification. Coming soon is a release announcement, not a claim that every listed device already works.
How can I play Windows audio on Sonos One (Gen 1)?
Sonos One Gen 1 has network playback, but no ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX input. For music, use supported Sonos services or a shared Windows music library. For browser and desktop audio, evaluate a sender that explicitly supports this generation and firmware. If the speaker is assigned as a surround, it is not a direct AirPlay target. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos One (Gen 1): Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can I connect Sonos One (Gen 2) to a Windows 11 PC?
Sonos One Gen 2 also uses network audio. Its Ethernet port does not accept a PC headphone signal, and Windows Bluetooth speaker pairing is not an audio route. A successful result on Gen 1 cannot verify Gen 2 for ToneRelay. Use Sonos music playback for supported content while model-specific system-audio sending remains unverified. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos One (Gen 2): Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
How do I use Sonos One SL with Windows for PC audio?
Sonos One SL has no ordinary Bluetooth audio or AUX input. The Windows Sonos controller plays supported music content, not all PC sound. One SL used as a home-theater surround is not directly selectable for AirPlay. Standalone playback, a stereo pair and surround use are separate configurations. More AirPlay speaker support is coming soon. ToneRelay status for Sonos One SL: Planned; playback has not been verified and current compatibility is not guaranteed.
